In trying to catch up on posts, I realized I never touched on Bekah's latest achievement--kindergarten graduation! Not that they had an ceremony or anything, but I just can't believe her kindergarten year is over. First grade...here we come! Here come school lunches, early morning rushes, more hounding (did you finish your homework yet? "Oh, mommmm" what did you learn in school today? "nothing"), recess ("mom, I ripped another hole in my pants today"), walking to and from school all by yourself! Do we parents ever feel ready for the stages of life that come upon us?!
Our neighbor was sweet enough to give Bekah a graduation card and "Wow, mom! There's a whole dollar in it!" She debated for a while what she wanted to do with it, but after a couple days she decided on the ice cream truck, since it passes by our house almost daily. Too bad a dollar doesn't get you much anymore these days.
Also today I finally lowered James crib to the bottom level. He's cruising pretty well now and stepping on things to look out over his crib. One day a couple weeks ago I went in after he woke up from his nap and noticed a big gouge on the top of the side rail. I thought maybe something had fallen one day there or something. When I noticed about ten times as many gouges the next day it became clear that someone was teething more...we do not have teething rails so the crib has quickly become a battle zone of teeth marks! They say the paint is non-toxic... Jason suggested just not leaving him in there when he's awake, but James has gotten really good at playing quietly in his crib, not to mention that I'm big on putting him down awake. Oh, well. Nevermind that I pictured using the headboard/footboard option into his teen years. I guess he'll just have more things that tell a story in his room. Heck...he's a boy so I doubt anything in his room at any stage of his life will be kept looking new and not beat up. I love him all the same!
