This week my mom has been visiting. This is her first visit back after helping us move here, and oh, what a transformation this house has undergone! Both with her help last visit and this visit, too. When my mom comes to visit I feel like magically I have a double and more that can help get three times as much accomplished than when I'm alone. I guess I feel that way more now that I have two kids. Whatever times I do have where I can choose what to get done instead of someone needing me is spent doing the daily duties that need doing just for living...the things that never really get done like laundry, dishes, meal prep, grocery shopping, etc. So I never have time to do projects that need doing. Not hobby projects (though I wish I had time for those too)--the projects that need to get done to make the daily duties easier and more efficient.
So we've already reorganized my whole kitchen since Jason recently finished re-sanding and staining the cabinets and thought of every way we can to make use of every inch of space. And it feels so good to know where everything is and know that it's in the place it's supposed to be. Same thing with the hall closet. Since it's the only non-bedroom closet in the house, it was so crucial to make it multi-tasked. We've made a big dent in our dumping ground that should be Jason's office, and we're going to attack the bedrooms in the next couple days. It makes life feel so much better. And it also feels good to be able to unload stuff we don't need. "Stuff" can be so stressful! So sometimes I just need my mom to help me get back on track with life. We're never really done with needing our moms, are we! Thanks, mom.
