We've been enjoying very fine weather

Or so Margaret says in one of my favorite movies. We have actually been having great weather, though. It makes me feel guilty, though, knowing my brother was just buried under another record snow storm back east!

Anyway, Bekah was learning about the weather in her last science unit. She decided early one morning while in the car, "When I grow up I'm going to be a meteorologist!"
However, not more than two weeks later, she had this to say:

"I'm so glad we don't live in one of those countries where they pick our jobs for us. If I were a meteorologist I would be busy!"

Here's another weather-related event. A couple weeks ago we got about 10 inches of snow. Not anything out of the ordinary, I know, but there was something different about this snow. It was wet, packable snow! We have heard quite frequently during the winters here so far from a certain 1st grader whenever someone says something positive about winter or Chicago or our house here, we hear "Yeah but you can't make snowmen here. It's so dumb. I wish we were in Utah. You could make snowmen there. I'll never be able to make a snowman again." That's because it's so cold and dry here for most of the winter that the snow just turns to powder and blows away. But towards the end of the winter it turns wet. It makes it a beast to shovel, especially the stuff the snow plows leave at the edge of your sidewalks and driveways. But it made someone else very happy!

After spending a full day at school, she still thoroughly enjoyed putting all that gear on and braving the cold to go finally build her snowman.
Something interesting happened, though. Upon hearing dinner was ready and that if she ate quickly she could come back out and finish before it got too dark, she had this to say:
Rebekah-I'll just do some more tomorrow.
Mom-Okay. Just know the snow could melt before then.
Rebekah-Yeah....but that's okay. It will come back next year.
Thank you so much for looking at the positive side! That was a highlight of my week.
